In this day and age, it is so easy to get distracted by all of the chaos and misery in the world. Many of my clients who are empaths by nature feel this more than most and can easily become overwhelmed by it all. Today I want to talk to you about how all the negativity in the world is affecting you, and 3 simple steps you can take to turn it all around: I sure hope that this video was helpful and that it inspires you in some small, beautiful way.

With love & light, Keli The biggest reason people don't like setting goals is because they hate that feeling of failure when they don't make things happen. Sound familiar? Trust me, I get it...and as a matter of fact I have been there myself and it's no fun! But this is the deal...it isn't that we are incapable. There are a couple of other issues that do come into play though, and I'm going to talk to you a little bit about that today... For myself I make the most consistent strides forward towards any given goal when I have an accountability buddy. But I am also that weirdo who loves writing to-do lists so that I can check things off. My point is that declaring to someone what you are going to do, and then having daily (or weekly) check-ins to confirm that you have done it can be super empowering. This feeling of confidence starts to build inside you and you overhear yourself saying, "Look at me go!" And before you know it you are experiencing your dreams come true.

You know...when you catch someone in a lie, or you are treated like poop, or someone purposefully defies your boundary and you feel yourself coming unglued! When I was younger I was so easily emotionally overwhelmed that I would sometimes suffer for weeks (if not months) following a red zone episode and it didn't really make a difference if I was the one receiving or the one dishing it out. And I HATE to SUFFER! That's probably why I worked so hard to find a foolproof plan for cooling off as quickly as possible after one of these blow ups. How have you been doing at putting a self-care practice into place that actually nurtures you completely; body, emotions, mind, and spirit? It sure feels different from 2021, doesn't it? The energy is much softer, slower...you may even feel your body, emotions, and mind trying to harmonize with spirit. It is a sweet sigh of relief from the hectic, chaotic energy of 2021 IF you are letting yourself enjoy it and melt into it. But that doesn't seem to be the case for some of my students and clients! As a matter of fact, they are fighting this new energy pattern tooth and nail...and it is their resistance to what is that is making them miserable. It is always so interesting to observe how people step into a new year. It very much resembles the way they enter a party! Some people burst through the door and boldly announce, "I'm here! And this is what I'm going to do this year!" In a fast-paced male-dominated energy of a year (like 2021) that can work out beautifully for them...because their energy matches the energy of the year. Some people gently float in through the door, observe what is going on, and then make themselves comfortable. In a slow-paced female-dominated energy of a year (like 2022) that energy works out beautifully for them...because again, their energy matches the energy of the year. But guess what happens to those people who don't either know how to shift their energy or even purposefully choose not to? They suffer! Fast-paced people in a slow-paced world feel like they are in quicksand! So today I want to talk to you a bit about how to adjust your energy so that you can complete your transition into the energy of this new year and enjoy it completely! Others, not so much! It seems like those other people have gotten a bad taste in their mouth over the whole "resolutions thing" and have decided to take a hard pass. Which is unfortunate. I mean who wants to start a new year without any hopes or dreams or aspirations, right? I think the truth about these other people is that the reason they are so over New Year's Resolutions is because they are tired of feeling like a failure on January 7th (or 18th, or 27th) every year when they give up on them. Life seemed so overwhelming and difficult when I was younger. Topped with the fact that I never really got the whole "human thing"...like why are we the only animals on the planet that have to pay to live here? And why don't we treat all beings (plants, animals, rocks, and trees) with the same level of love and respect? Or any for that matter? And what's with all the ugly behavior...? I just never really got it. Still don't if I'm being honest. But I have figured out how to thrive here. When I was little my mom would hand over to my brother and sister and me the Sears Wishbook, this huge catalog with just about every toy imaginable in it, and she'd have us circle everything we wanted for Christmas and put our names next to it. When we were done she said she would send the information off to Santa for us so he'd have a list of presents for us. I always dreamed of waking up on Christmas morning and finding everything on my list under the tree...but that never happened. And I wondered why. Was I bad? Had I done something naughty and Santa didn't think I deserved more? NO! The truth was my mom was a single parent doing the best that she could to take care of us and make sure we had presents under the tree. This is just an example of how the holiday season can lead to disappointments. It's not that I didn't have wonderful Christmas's as a kid...it's just that I had expectations that one day I'd be "good enough" to get everything on my list. Those expectations were the problem! I was setting myself up for disappointment year after year. One of my beloved friends shared a profound quote with me: How many of us do this to ourselves over the holidays?
The problem with expectations is that it's like we are saying we know more than God about what's best for us. But do we...? It's funny because all of my favorite childhood Christmas memories are about baking cookies, or wrapping presents, or watching TV specials together as a family, or decorating the tree. Out of all my most cherished memories, maybe one involves a toy I received off my list...which just goes to show you that God always makes sure we get exactly what we need most, even if it is completely different than we may have imagined. So this holiday season I implore you to let go of your expectations and replace them with... I do hope that you follow the suggestions in the video every day for the rest of the year. I hope that it was delightful and that you and your loved ones enjoyed it completely. We had a fun filled day. My family hadn't been all together in over 22 months...so it was a day of celebration, reconnecting, and tons of laughter. But I actually had a much deeper reason for asking. What I really want to know is... Was it peaceful and relaxing, and filled with joy? Or was it stressful, chaotic, and drama-filled? It's interesting because we all had one experience or the other...peaceful or stressful. And some of us had different experiences at the same event! I recently came across a quote that shed light on this interesting phenomenon: Doing something you don't love is experienced as stress. This is so true! And it explains the difference in people's experience perfectly! There are those people that say yes to everything...even the things they don't enjoy or even want to do. They end up feeling stressed and overwhelmed, and perhaps even a little resentful of the people having fun and enjoying themselves. Then there are the people who only say yes to the things they love and enjoy doing...which is the exact reason that they are so peaceful and enjoying life to the fullest. So how do you move from Team Stress to Team Peace? Easy! By learning how to say no. You get to master saying yes only to those things that you love and enjoy this holiday season. And the best way to figure out what your true yes's are is to allow yourself permission to experience saying no. Hopefully this week's challenge of being on a No Diet will help you find the peace that lies in speaking your truth.
