Powerful statement, right? It sure has got me thinking this morning about loyalty and commitment, and what they really mean to me.
I am almost 51 years old, and have never been married. Some people think that makes me a commitment-phobic, but I think it's just the opposite. I like to joke and say that I have simply skipped my first two divorces! :-) But the truth is I am still on the path of discovering who I am, and I evolve and change from moment to moment. How could I expect someone to commit to who I am right now, when we don't know what tomorrow brings...at least that is what I believed when I was younger. Now I know that I have kept my commitment to love, because to me love is freedom. Love is allowing someone the space to find for themselves the magnificence you see in them. That is probably why I have so much love and gratitude to the people who I have loved and dated, and why we are still friends. I was committed to still love them, and see the very best in them long after our romantic relationship had ended. As I think about how loyalty and commitment fits for me in business, I realize I have the same mode of operation. When a client comes to me for help, and together we create a vision of what they want for themselves...I stay committed to that vision no matter what! Actually I have had to "fire" clients because I was more committed to their success than they were. The only clients or students that I have had not (yet) achieve the goals they set for themselves, are the ones that let their FEELINGS become bigger than their COMMITMENT. You may know this one for yourself. In January you told yourself you would lose 20 pounds, or stop smoking, or start meditating, or "whatever"...and today, well? What happened? It's not because you are "bad" or that you have no loyalty to yourself or commitment to your goals. It's because you allowed yourself to become DISTRACTED by the little voice of defeat in your head; "You'll never do this", "You can try again on Monday", "You've never done it before, what makes you think you can do it now?" I like to call that voice the itty bitty *shitty committee (*pardon my French!), and we spend WAY too much time listening to "it" instead of focusing on our goals! What we need to do is replace that voice and those limiting beliefs with ones that EMPOWER us. Today I challenge you to commit to what you want, and declare it below so we can all share your vision with you! And if you need a life coach, make an appointment with me TODAY! Let me support you in creating the life of your dreams... With love & light, Keli PS--If you are interested in learning about natural health, please visit http://www.kelishealthbiz.com/blog.html |
