Meditation as a Foundation for Peace

8/4/2014

I am so very grateful to my friend (and teacher) Marlene Cleckner, who so many years ago, suggested that I attend a meditation class with her. I had been going through a particularly stressful period in my life and was finding it more and more difficult to find my peaceful center.

In that very first class I not only found my peace, but I recognized what an incredibly valuable tool meditation is for tuning out the chaos in the world, and turning in to that blissfully sacred space within.

Within each of us lies the answer to every question we could ever ask...we just have to become still enough to hear it. That's where meditation comes in, as it teaches us to still the body, emotions, and thoughts so that we can connect to that inner voice.

As the insanity seems to grow in the outside world I am so grateful for my joyous, and peaceful life that I love. I know that I created it by following my inner voice/higher guidance and I feel incredibly blessed. I would love to share that blessing with you by inviting you to take my 5 Week Meditation Foundation Series. It is an online class that you can take from the comfort of your home, and it will teach you how to settle into a lifelong meditative practice.

To support you, now through August 15th I am offering 50% off of the series, so if you are ready to embrace peace...don't miss out on this offer.

The Emotional Connection to Health

7/26/2014

Are you aware of the emotional connection to health...?

Too much worry can affect digestion.
Holding in your emotions can lead to constipation.
Anger causes stress on the liver.
Bitterness affects the heart.
Not speaking your truth can show up as a sore throat.
Immune system issues indicate you aren't feeling unconditionally loved.
And the list goes on...

That is why I find journaling so helpful! Every morning I acknowledge and release the emotions that are present into the pages of my journal so that I can find my way back to love.

Love holds the same vibratory pattern as vibrant health. Wishing you a day filled with love...xoxo

Would You Like to Feel More Powerful?

This is another of my favorite TedTalks! Amy Cuddy makes some really eye opening points about how our non-verbal communication causes us to feel about ourselves. Did you know that powerful and powerless people have different hormonal levels? And that by using certain body language you can actually FEEL more powerful???

If you are ready to feel like Wonder Woman, then I know you'll enjoy this video AND it just may inspire you to have a more powerful day! And if you need a little extra support, schedule a Holistic Therapy Session.

A Diet Solution? Why Yes, I Think It Is!

7/1/2014

Comments

I recently read the Hunter/Farmer Diet Solution by Dr. Mark Liponis right before I left on a 7 day cruise. I did my best to follow the simple guidelines for my "type" and much to my surprise came back from vacation having gained only one and a half pounds.

Better yet, in the two weeks since returning from vacation I have shed 5 pounds without feeling deprived in any way!
I was so inspired by what I've learned that I did an online class about it. Enjoy...
Are you a hunter or a farmer? What changes will you incorporate based on what you learned?

Top 10 Practices on an Empath's Journey

6/24/2014

Comments

Picture
According to Dr. Judith Orloff, "Empaths are highly sensitive, finely tuned instruments when it comes to emotions. They feel everything, sometimes to an extreme, and are less apt to intellectualize feelings. Intuition is the filter through which they experience the world. Empaths are naturally giving, spiritually attuned, and good listeners. If you want heart, empaths have got it. Through thick and thin, they’re there for you, world-class nurturers." (full article)

Many people are in the process of awakening to their "inner empath" and are longing for support and guidance. As someone who was born highly sensitive, I know all too well how overwhelming it can be to not be able to discern if what I am feeling is really me...or am I just picking up someone else's stuff? If that sounds like you, then keep reading.

To help you on your path, I give to you my top ten practices that will make the journey easier:

  1. Meditate. Being able to enter the stillness and connect to peace is incredibly important. If you have a meditation practice already, focus on expanding it so that your life becomes your meditation practice. If you don't have a meditation practice...start one.
  2. Journal. By putting your thoughts and emotions down on paper, you become aware of what is lurking below your level of consciousness. I suggest writing at least one full page (8x10) daily.
  3. Nurture your body. Love it. Treat it like a sacred temple. Feed it healthy food, give it water, rest, exercise, and tender loving care.
  4. Acknowledge and release emotion. Recognize what is present without judgement or attachment. Let all of your emotions flow by as if you are taking a simple inventory until you reach the place of contentment.
  5. Learn lessons. Your life is happening for you to learn, grow, and become the highest and grandest version of yourself. If you look back over your life and have any regrets or resentments...then you haven't learned the lesson.
  6. Choose joy. In other words, work towards creating the outcome you desire. Your fears are only there to tempt you into staying small. Ignore them! Listen to your dreams and let them call you forward to your destiny.
  7. Express love. You are absolutely essential to God's plan, and the whole of humanity is counting on you to shine your light. Sparkle in your own beautiful, unique way that only you can shine!
  8. A servant's heart. As Ghandi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world." Want a peaceful world? Be peaceful. Want a loving world? Be loving. Want a forgiven world? Be forgiving.
  9. Embrace abundance. Know that the universe is here to provide you everything you could possibly ever need. Allow yourself to receive, and to share your abundance.
  10. Center yourself. You are the yin and the yang, the light and the dark, the good and the bad, the right and the wrong, the alpha and the omega...you are all of it. Learn to completely love and accept yourself. Not in spite of all you are, but because of all you are!

Starting in August I will be co-instructing an 18 Week course, The Empaths Journey with my dear friend from the personal growth and development industry and best selling author, Tina Crumpacker. If you are interested in joining us, please pre-register.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

TCM for Spring: Wood Element

4/10/2014

Picture
This past weekend I had the honor and privilege to teach an Intro to Traditional Chinese Medicine, and I am so happy that we recorded it because it was chock full of incredibly helpful information for anyone committed to a healthy life. If you'd like to take the online version, it is now available here.

In the class we discussed the 5 Element theory of healing in depth, and since it is spring, I wanted to share with you some information that you may find valuable at this time.

During spring the most active element is Wood which affects the liver and gallbladder.

The color associated is green, so if you notice that color present on the face, tongue, or in the Shen (aura), it may point to a disharmony of the liver/gallbladder.

The climate associated is Wind, which is the factor that most often will injure the organ. People who are overly sensitive to fans blowing on them may have a liver/gallbladder disharmony.

Along with each organ is a portal to the outside, which is identified by a sense organ. The Liver, as seen in the chart, is responsible for the health of the eyes. Problems in the sense organs will often reflect disharmony to their corresponding internal organs.

The tissues are nourished by their corresponding organs and will again reflect disharmony in that organ. When the sinews (ligaments, tendons, and fascia) are weak it is considered a Liver deficiency.

The emotion of the Wood element is anger. Too much anger (especially unacknowledged)  injures the liver. The corresponding sound is shouting.

The taste also reflects its organ, and in craving a taste may suggest an imbalance. The taste for Wood is sour. Conversely moderate amounts of sour things are actually good for the liver.

If you would like to learn more I highly suggest the Intro to Traditional Chinese Medicine. In the class you will also have an opportunity to learn about your Chinese Constitution, and what herbal supplements will help bring your body back into harmony.

The Art of Relationships

2/13/2014

Comments

The amount of love we experience in our lives is a direct reflection of our relationship with Our Creator. If your relationship with God is filled with fear, judgement, or disbelief, then you may find your other relationships are distant or unfulfilling.

But if your relationship with God is filled with peace, love, joy, and enlightenment then you will find all of your relationships fulfill a purpose.

Every relationship gives us an opportunity to remember who we are...and we are either choosing relationships that remind us that we are loved, cherished, and adored exactly as we are, OR we are choosing relationships that feed into the illusion that we are unlovable, damaged, and unworthy.

We surround ourselves with people who will treat us the way we think we deserve to be treated, and if they don't treat us that way, we teach them how! That is the good news AND the bad news! It's good because it reminds us that we are the creator of our experience in relationships. And it can seem bad if you've created some relationships that are on the brink of disaster.

The best news of the day is this...all you need to do to bring all of your relationships back to their highest possibility is practice being loving. Practice seeing things to love, cherish, and adore about everyone you meet.

By the way...YOU are magnificent! Thank you for all the beauty you bring to the world. We are all the better for knowing you.

Ascending with Reiki

1/3/2014

Many years ago, I sat down in a classroom with several other nervous students for Reiki I and II. Little did I know that my life was about to change forever.

I had already experienced several Reiki sessions and had miraculously healed my neck from "irreversible damage" from a car accident. My favorite part of the sessions though was the pure unadulterated peace I experienced while on the table. That feeling of floating, enveloped by love and light, the oneness with all that is...I had found my heaven, and now was going to learn how to maintain that state for myself, and share it with others.

The class was the most spiritual experience of my life. The attunements were sacred processes in which I could truly feel the presence of God. I learned how to open myself up to be a vehicle for God to work through, and in the process experienced a profound healing myself. By the end of our class I was ready to go out in the world and help others heal themselves with Reiki.

Many years and many clients later, my teacher called to tell me it was time for me to do my final attunements as a Reiki Master, as she was getting ready to retire soon. I realized that I was finally ready also as Reiki had mastered my life, and I was ready to lift others on their spiritual path.

If you or anyone you know is ready to take on their spiritual path in a beautiful healing way, please join us on September 13 & 14 for the Reiki I & II Certification. Space is limited, so reserve your seat now.

With love & light,
Keli Ackroyd

PS-- Florida Massage Therapists will earn 12 CEUs for Reiki I & II.

PPS-- If you have already taken the class and would like to join us for a "tune up", it is half price. Documentation is required. :-)

3 Minute Neck Pain Relief

12/10/2013

Comments

This short video will take you through a simple process that will open up your neck and bring you relief from pain and stiffness.

The technique I use marries two of my favorite healing modalities: massage and yoga. The two are actually quite similar. Massage brings relief to the body from the outside in, and yoga brings relief to the body from the inside out. When you add BOTH to your healthcare regimen, you will be amazed at how quickly the body will heal itself.

Physically the neck includes the cervical vertebrae, muscles, ligaments, and tendons which can play a part in neck pain. But did you know that emotionally it can represent a fear of communicating your truth? The throat chakra represents how balanced we are in giving our love to others (right side) and receiving love from others (left side). It can also be where we hold judgments of the past against ourselves and others (back of neck).

The mantra that will support you in healing this area is:
"I express my love & joy freely and authentically."

If you find this information to be helpful, please like, share and pin it! Thanks so much.
