On this morning's call on A Course in Miracles we had an intriguing discussion on the day's lesson which was: "There is no death. The Son of God is free." The lesson started out by stating..."Death is a thought that takes on many forms, often unrecognized. It may appear as sadness, fear, anxiety or doubt; as anger, faithlessness and lack of trust; concern for bodies, envy, and all forms in which the wish to be as you are not may come to tempt you." And it has me thinking... Every choice we make in life is either in alignment with love or fear/ life or death, so in essence every decision is either bringing us into alignment with living life to the fullest, or suffering until we die. I have a beloved friend who recently crossed over, and for the sake of this article we will call her Betty. Betty was this amazingly kind and beautiful soul with many goals and dreams for her life. Even in her 70s she still had visions of experiences she would like to create for herself in this lifetime. The problem is that she never did create them. She talked about it, dreamed about it, envisioned it...but she never took consistent action towards turning them into her reality. Since her crossing my prayer for Betty has been that she has no regrets. It is actually my prayer for all of us. I imagine that during her "life review" she saw all the opportunities she missed because she was too afraid to take action. She probably has also learned that the only real mistake she ever made was not believing in her Self...she is the child of God after all! And being the children of God, made in His image, we have the same innate quality of being creators. Those of us who make our decisions by proactively choosing the path of love, are actively creating our own heaven, and living life to the fullest. Those of us who make our choices by reactively choosing to avoid our fears are actively creating our own hell, and suffering our own march towards death. Let us all learn a lesson from Betty...don't allow your fears to become so big that you feel small in the face of them. Take risks. Follow your dreams. Be willing to ask yourself...am I going to regret not having done this on my deathbed? And if the answer is yes, then do it! Believe in yourself. You are made from stardust after all! And if you need someone to believe in you, cheer you on to victory, help you learn and grow from your mistakes, and do the happy dance with you to celebrate your successes...I am here for you.
